Detect 33 primary aromatic amines in food contact materials

Primary aromatic amines are toxicological substances that could migrate from commercial products like kitchen utensils, textile dyes and food packaging into food. For food safety regulators that means enforcing low limits of PAAs in such products. However, detecting small quantities of PAAs is a challenge.

The following technical note presents an analyte method based on UHPLC-MS/MS quantification analysis of 33 PAAs contained in kitchen utensils, textile dyes and food packaging.

Key advantages:

  • Fast and robust separation: 33 PAAs within 12 minutes
  • Highly sensitive: Meet permissible levels of target chemical compounds; below 0.01 mg/kg detection limit
  • Wide-linear range: up to 50 ng/ml
